"whenever I date a guy, I think, is this the man I want my children to spend their weekends with?"

Is there some rule that I am unaware of?

Why is it that when people get wind that you are single they automatically want to set you up with every single person they know... maybe even a few they don't actually know.

Then, when you aren't jumping at the chance to meet their obviously undateable friends they got all offended like you just told them how fat they looked in that outfit.

If these people are sooo great, why aren't you dating them?

Even better is when they describe them to you and when you don't seem convinced enough, they then compare the person to some celeb. You start to perk up when they say he looks identical to Patrick Dempsey.

Then the picture comes out....

Ya, maybe if Patrick Dempsey had down syndrome.

These people must forget what it's like to be single, but there is only so much disappointment one person can take. Going out on bad dates that you manage to get yourself is bad enough. Throw in a few more from your friends who "just want to see you happy" and it pushes you one step closer to beginning that questionnaire that eharmony so delightfully advertises.

So next time you want to set up your single friend, think twice. Because the girl you used to describe as cute and fun with a ton of sass will turn into the pathetic 23 year old girl looking for her soulmate via the world wide web. And lets be real here, nobody wants a friend like that.

So we don't want to meet your friend, neighbor, cousin or cute guy at the supermarket. We don't care if he IS Patrick Dempsey. Spare our dignity and the little bit of hope we have.

Because it isn't much.
